Hello Richard. Congratulations on your NOS Flightmaster!!
Mine is complete set as well and in NOS condition though it required a full service as it had been sitting for several decades and oils were dry as well as gaskets.
Our dear Art not only brought the watch to the USA from Germany but also had it serviced before sending it to my hands in Miami.
You are right that be it a 707 or DC8 doesn’t matter. Just a little detail which has always called my attention being an airplane aficionado.
You know watch collectors like to know everything around their watches and always pay attention to small details… it is part of the fun of our sport I feel.
The FM is a superb watch no matter a 707 or a DC8 is on its back and you got a great example there!

A watch I would love to add to the collection someday, with the DC-8 in the back. Sadly a plane which I missed, so while never having experienced it live, at least I would have it on the wrist 😁✈️

DC-8, 707, and VC-10 - flew 'em all! . . .
. . . and somewhere in storage is my BOAC log-book with many of those flights recorded by the pilot. ✈️

Don´t you feel it is a 707 and not a DC8? Just a bit of trivia of course.
A 707 is what I thought initially for years until . . .
. . . being informed it's supposed to be a DC-8. I recall flying Swiss Air at least a few times in the late '60s . . . wish I could remember what was in their fleet. That would be the likely inspiration for the engraving. Art
Agree dear Art: all literature I read in books or internet sources mention the DC8. But still... The only commercial airplane in that era with an horizontal antenna on its tail fin top was the 707.
Probably the DC8 was the intention but then a mistake from the Omega artist making the original drawings for the watch was overlooked. That´s just my theory of course. Cheers! Abel
My first flight was in January 1966…
… Buenos Aires - Miami with a technical scale in Panama aboard a 707 !! I was 17 years old then!! Time really flies dear Nicolas!! Cheers!! Abel
My first was in about late April 1979…
But as I was less than 3 months old the memories are hazy at best 😂 It was in a DC-9, though, that much I know 👍🏻

707 or DC 8 - does it matter?
Mine's still parked in the hangar I should really get out to fly sometime soon. Since 707s and DC8s are gone, my choice nowadays would be 747 upper deck. It speaks volumes about the engineering prowess that so many of them are still flying around 5 decade...
