The watch has not arrived yet (it will probably get here in about a week). I do not seem to be able to get any information out of the new (improved???) Omega vintage database. I liked the old version a lot better.

Hi The watch looks nice, I hope it is just the angle of the photo ... the vertical cross hair is slightly off-centered to the left. That would annoy me personally more then age to a dial . It is an uncommon signed above the six o'clock position Seamaster ...

There should be zero doubt. Even 1% chance of a redial would be unacceptable. IMHO of course.

The "S" to me is not as much a problem as the crosshairs. While the S looks abruptly cut off at the top it (together with the rest of the script) looks identical to the watch with the same dial style Desmond posted here before. I'm just saying a premium p... 

Hah ha, Now, Pat must be worrying like hell. Hi Mike and Bill. By looking at the pristine movement, I still believe it's original (redial always goes with a bad shape movement) Let's wait a few more days to see. I am sure Desmond will join us when he wake... 

I did not see the sale on this watch, but do you know that Pat does not know that it is a redial? Perhaps he is comfortable with the watch regardless. I have to admitt that I did not give the watch much of a look earlier, just the casual , "nice watch dud...

hi Hoi Desmond's photo is not the most detailed but i can see the crosshair appears centered in comparison to pat's. Also its harder to make a call on the Seamaster Script but I get the feeling its different. Bill

Hi Graham. I think I am wrong when I use "always", I should have used "often" then. To me, I still think that dial is original. why don't we wait and see when Pat has it on his hands and give us details ? Best.

Hi Graham et al, In mitigation of Hoi's posts, we need to give him a bit of a break. He is multi-lingual and English is not his first language. His writing is admirable and quite precise for someone who is not writing in his mother tongue. I have noticed ...

you can have a crack in the crystal and over years, the dial is bad. that still has nothing to do with the state of the movement. the right experienced watchmaker can always bring back the movement to shiny pink gold.... be careful with these unfounded an...

the crosshair is not centered; but more important to me, the markers have been removed ( the thin tips point slightly up now...). and there is only one reason for removing the markers.... it is a very nice work, BTW. kind regards. achim

That's why I think many of us watched this auction but decided not to bid - the doubt (to varying degrees) about the dial's originality.

I asked the seller for a high res pic of dial before forrwarding on to Pat. I have it stored and you can click here and then click to enlarge to make a more detailed assessment. In comparing it with a high res pic of my dial I came to the conclusion that ...

With respect to the OP's "new" watch, in comparing the photos with Desmond's example, I noticed the following - 1. The hi-res picture shows that the angle of the photo is slightly to the right. This could cause the cross hairs to look worse than they are....

Bill - I have had this same experience with UK from time to time. Graham can report that I was surprised to get his package so quickly - I always allow 2 weeks at a minimum. I find out from the other country's site when it is reported as sent to US and th...

Hi Bill, USPS performs very lousy service concerning updates of the status - as far as I have experienced. Several times it was not even updated after the package had already been delivered for one week or so!!! So lean back - it will turn out for good! k...
