I have been searching for an ultimate watch for myself. I am not a "REAL WIS" but have kept up a healthy interest for myself. I narrowed it down to 2 brands for various reasons ... AL & S and Patek. As much as I like Patek, I realized that I would have to...

see it, it may have shown up with the 5146P but, for some reason, I thought it was earlier.

I just acquired a 5056P with an archival letter stating that the watch was manufactured in 1999 with a date of sale of November, 1999 and it has the diamond. I believe the 3035 made its debut in 1997, but a knowledgeable dealer told me he tought Patek sta... 

The fact is that I never knew with precision he first " use " of a diamond between the lugs for the platinum PP watches. There are many contradictory informations, and I start to wonder of it doesn't depend of the models... I'm thinking loud, it is just a...

You havent met me in person yet - Go whine somewhere else. I agree with you - Patek's are way too blingy. I would stay away at all costs. Why do we let posts like this stay?

are not a big deal IMO. You don't even see the diamond unless you know to look for it. I can understand that the prices on Patek's platinum pieces are much higher than their gold models but the diamond placed on the bottom underside of the case should not...

for me the diamond make the platinum case special in patek watches.

Seriously, if it bothers you that much, don't buy it. Just don't whine about it Oh, and nice first post, rpilot. Perhaps after you get a non-diamond-bearing Lange, you can have a second, and more positive post. There is an ALS forum here.

It's a completely legitimate DESIGN critique on the gent's part. MUST WE love diamonds? What's the problem here? Diamonds are garish and feminine, except in very rare cases. But when some guy shows us his diamond encrusted 5971, we don't say, 'oh God, I'm... 

Put a diamond between the lug of their platinum watches. There is no reason to flame him, indeed, and even if the diamond doesn't bother me, as it is not too visible, I would also have preferred without. Best, Nicolas.

Hi, The press kit of the 5100 and 5110, launched together in 2000, make a great deal of this little diamond, perhaps as if it was a new thing. Cheers Dje

What really bothers me is that I do not afford to turn most of my white gold watches, Patek or not, into platinum cases (with diamond included) ;-) R

apparently, nobody owns a PP -not even our dear moderator Dje. but you can still buy one (or more). you can "have" a patek, but you don't "own" it.
