5204 for me

I traded in my 5270G-001 to raise funds for my first 5204(R-011) and have never looked back. The 5204 fits me so well I have added another to my collection (5204G-001) and they are both in my daily rotation. No issues with fit on my wrist at all. 40mm case diameter is perfect IMO.

For me complications are enormously important. Since the 5204 I have added the 5370 split and 6102 celestial. The 5270 is an awesome watch and it got a lot of wrist time when I owned one. But for me the upgrade to a split chrono in the 5204 puts it in a whole different stratosphere.

Sure, the 5204 is thick but when you consider what is under the hood and what it is capable of the thickness goes with the territory. I mean they managed to put a split chrono AND a perpetual calendar in a 14mm thick case. Don't get me wrong, I also love thin watches and have the 5712 and 5740 along with the 5296 to scratch that itch but they pale in comparison to the 5204.

Patek also seems to have nailed the reliability of the CHR29-535 PS Q movement. The split chronology is very entertaining to play with... I have likely triggered the split over one thousand times on my 5204R and it has always performed flawlessly. The reliability would be my concern with the 5004 however I don't have hands on experience with the watch.

Anyway both the 5270 and 5204 are lovely watches but the 5204 seems to be a better fit for me
