Patek Philippe

no need for a new seal

I share the sentiment that there's really no need for a new seal. Actually, PP should stand behind their products and the PP signature on the dial / movement should be sufficient to guarantee the quality of their products. I am worried that they are now drawing the line between products pre-/post- the new seal, particularly with regard to after-sale services.  I don't know if I am just unfortunate that some of my PP watches have come back from the international service centre in a significantly worse state cosmetically than before: dents, scratches, etc. on the case and dial that were not present before.  This has happened again and again on the same watches.  It appears that they're taking after-sale service more seriously now with the introduction of the new seal. So, I'm worried that they're implying that (only) new products with the new seal will benefit from the "new deal" with regard to after-sale service. After all, they begin by saying "Individuals who own a timepiece with the Patek Philippe Seal ..."

Also, I cannot imagine other companies like VC using the PP seal for their own watches. I think it would be embarassing to do so. This again reinforces the argument that the PP signature alone should be sufficient guarantee of quality.
