Patek Philippe

Aesthetically, I'm not fond of the new seal's logo design...

I think the new seal looks way too much Rolls-Royce-esque. Then again, there aren't many ways to make such a seal, you can't do two symmetrical Ps back to back (it'd look like the Plaza Hotel New York logo).

I can't say yet that I think this new seal is a good thing in my opinion. Why does a Patek Philippe need its own seal? Simply having Patek Philippe written on the dial (or on the case for a very few special models) already implies the Patek Philippe Seal.

The problem is that the PP seal isn't looked at as a third party entity (although the Stern family wants to spin it off as a third party entity). I agree that Pateks are finished to better quality than other brands that bear the Geneva Seal, but I was willing to accept that. To have a Patek Philippe seal is redundant.

The Geneva Seal is still something to be coveted.

What I'm saying is that I'd rather have a Patek that has the Geneva Seal and quietly live with the fact that it's better than other watches that also bear the Geneva Seal.
