Patek Philippe

Another approach

Would be to look at what percentage of limited edition Patek are listed for sale on c24.....

5565 8 listed out of 300 or 2.7%
5275P 2 listed out of 175 or 1.1%
5975J 27 listed out of 400 or 6.8%
5975G 15 listed out of 400 or 3.8%
5975R 21 listed out of 400 or 5.3%
5975P 3 listed out of 100 or 3%
5976G 21 listed out of 1300 or 1.7%
5711P 22 listed out of 700 or 3.1%
5650G 16 listed out of 500 or 3.2%
5522A 23 listed out of 600 or 3.8%
5575G 23 listed out of 1300 or 1.8%
5230G NY edition 20 out of 300 or 15%
5130P Dubai edition 5 out of 50 or 10%
5130P Mecca edition 2 out of 175 or 1.1%

Listed 5131 total 110 and are reasonably evenly distributed across metals
J 36
G 31
R 21
P 22

Not in any ways conclusive but a thought experiment. Most limited edition pieces in the sample above appear to have a 1-5% of produced listed for sale, the exception seem to be for two world time editions that are in 10-15% range. This means the 110 listed 5131 would have production of around 1100-1500. This seem reasonable to me but fun to head I would venture to guess total is closer to 1800. Now if it is the case that owners are more fond of these and lower percentage is listed for sale then production of the 5131 has been far higher.... anyone’s guess I suppose....
