Looking forward to seeing what you end up getting. You can't really go wrong with any one in my opinion. My personal preference would be to have room for a lot of Nautiluses like some of our fellow Purists... But I am very happy with my 2 for now.
The 5712/1a for the asymmetric blue dial, thin case, and lovely cal 240. This is probably the most versatile timepiece I have yet owned. Always works whatever occasion.
Then the 5980R for the symmetric brown dial, gorgeous rose gold case and on a superbly well matched rubber strap. I used to have the blue dial 5980/1a and find it amazing. The problem was the bracelet combination on a relatively thick and top heavy piece made it move around my wrist too much on colder days. The 5980/1R I find beautiful as well but suspect my issue would be more pronounced there.
For a third possibility, among what is available today I would lean towards either a black 5726A or white 5726/1a. This would add dial color variety as well as a different complication. Ideally the third would be in a different metal as well but that could mean hunting down a 3711/1G which is tricky... Better to look forward to what is released this year and hope something fits the bill... Literally.
