Imagine if it's a PLATINUM cased watch, quartz, complicated, and from Patek Philippe. I can see that costing $40K easily on a strap. A steel, no complications, Patek Philippe, on a strap would already cost close to $20K. Data point is the Patek 24 for lad... 

Perpetual calendar instructions could have been: 1) you don’t need to reset it 2) take to AD every 4 years 3) consider to buy another watch from AD, while AD changes battery and seals

Apple Watches are perpetual calendars! They know what day, month, year it is!

The ladies' 24 watch is quartz, steel, and costs $16K USD. The men's variant without diamonds would probably cost that or more.

Here’s earlier work for the Piaget 212P, an earlier perpetual calendar quartz (with chronograph!) The Piaget method for QP was to spin the time an extra 24 hours at midnight at the end of apr, Jun, sep, Nov and an extra 48 to 72 hours at the end of Februa...  

But I'd love to see a new quartz movement from Patek.

Quartz changes the game here. This watch will be to the Nautilus, what the Aquanaut Luce is to the Aquanaut. And the Luce is a fantastic watch, by the way. In my mind, if quartz, it all makes sense in a way.

with this design it doesn't even matter anymore what movement is inside... A watch only a mother could love, the Aquanauts and Nautilus' disfigured sibling in the basement...
