Patek Philippe

I read through this thread.......and.....

.....some comments remind me why I am always a little sceptical when I hear some Patek "collectors".

Patek used to be a make that won its plaudits from being "under the radar".

In the same way that the Porsche Boxter is often described as the poor man's 911, it seems that many see the Aqua as the poor man's Nauti.

Absurd.

Is the purpose of a Picasso so that it can be hung on the wall so that all guests to a house know how successful the owner of the house is? Or is it a wonderful piece of art that can and possibly should be enjoyed in private?

For me, I don't wear a watch so that others can gauge how successful I have been. In this sense, I am very happy wearing an Aqua. If there is an inverse snobbery there, great. What I think is a real shame is that some here seem to think that the Aqua sits in the shade of its "bigger and better" Nauti cousin.

My view: No.....I will wear an Aqua precisely because so many Patek owners look down their noses at it.

Golden rule in life....there is always a bigger fish. Should Minute Repeater owners look at Nauti owners and consider them to be Ford Escorts?

Sorry.....had to vent here.
