I recently acquired something I wanted when I was much younger...
I recently acquired some special fountain pens that I wanted when I was much younger. They came out in a pair of two in that year, and I was lucky to find a matching pair with matching serial numbers (getting the matching serial numbers is difficult) that was an exceptional number that was also fairly low. I bought these pens from an auction company and I was very happy. I felt triumphant, I acquired something that I could not have when I was younger.
Unfortunately for me. This set was ruined. The auction company screwed up and accidentally sold one of the pens in that pair (they're sold individually, but I wanted them as a pair with matching serial numbers) to another individual. Not only was I very upset that I no longer had my matching set. I was also very upset that I no longer had what I had always wanted for many years.
Anyways, I think that the accomplishment of getting something you always wanted, but were not able to, is very appealing to me. And I look forward to the time when I acquire those special watches that constantly elude my grasp.

I pressed the wrong box... So the dial can appear dark blue: Or when turning the watch a bit, the dial can more like medium blue: Sometimes the dial can look more like slate or dark grey: The same thing can even better be seen from the matching Cuff Links...
Thanks a lot!

This watch has probably more sentimental value than any other watch I own and I don't even dream about dropping her. It is funny how sometimes a watch comes on your way which has everything in its class. A little bit the same story as with women. Best, Ka...

I knew you were sunk when you bought your plane ticket. LOL Gotta love the 240 caliber, too! If you've got the funds to play with then I would say, "Go for it! you made the right choice." You will get more joy out of acquiring your dream watch than money ...

If I feel that an answer is wrong or incomplete, then it helps me to dig deeper. In the case of 3712 vs. 5712 I really needed to understand if there are any differences between these to watches. Yes, there are but the differences are really minor. For som...
Like said, I have 3712...

but my old eyes can read the date somehow. If I am totally honest, I am admiring the beauty of the dial all the time and have very little time to study the details. If I have to check the time, I stop looking at the watch for a minute or two. And after th...

I congratulate you on getting this fine and gorgeous watch; I can't wait to be able to do the same. I guess one must go with what raises ones emotions or excitement when choosing a watch. This one definitely does it for me. Thank you for yor response and ...

but still, I am thinking about ways of getting the cheaper of my Grails this year and the other later. House is coming as the first priority but I am considering ways of boosting the business in such a way that I could reward myself with a new Patek. The ...

is indeed limited. Ref. 3712 was produced from Baselworld 2005 some 8 months onwards and nobody knows how many were produced. Probably in low hundreds. But good news: ref. 5712 is nearly the same watch and it has been in regular production since 2006. At ...
Huge congrats Kari.

Perfect. The "monocoque case structure" alone would worth the premium in your case. The 5712 will never be the same for you. The main different for me is that the bases of all the date numerals on the 3712 are facing inwards, it looks strange when you loo...
Thanks Goh,

Indeed you are right - I nearly forgot the numerals on the date. If I am honest, I do not regret a bit! For me 3712 is the Dram Watch, while 5712 would have been just a Good Substitute. In fact I have nearly forgotten that my new watch costed something. I...
