Patek Philippe

When the 5970P originally rolled out , early this year, my initial reaction was quite positive, as I was very pleased that Patek decided to use a black dial as the last iteration of the famed 5970 series. The black dial makes this piece very traditional, ... 

the blue dial like the 5070P would have made it gorgeous. I only like black dials in sportswatches, not a fan of complicated black dial watches. Subs, Overseas, Panerai, AP's are fine with a black dial, but complicated watches are most of the times hard t... 

The only reason I would consider the 5970P is the platinum metal which gives the watch its heft. Now would'nt we all be amazed if Basel 2010 was really, no I mean really the last of the 5970 breed and was manufactured in stainless steel with an opaline di... 

as for black dial being traditional, I highly doubt it. It looks modern to my eyes and make the watch even more 'Dato' like considering the case already very similar. My lady has the exact opposite opinion as yours though ;-) The PT Black dial version loo... 

Hi Cl, lovely thought of a dial with arabic numerals, but IMO there will not be any for practical reasons: There is simply no space for arabic or breguet numerals as the dial is already too "crowded". just my 2 cents erich

it is possible Note that this 2499 is only 38mm and patek has done it on a 5004 dial so there's still hope *CL...  

Hi Cl, would you like this kind of dial? It looks a bit unbalanced to me: too tiny numbers and 5 numbers missing... I would prefer larger Breguet numbers but this would command a larger dial / watch I guess Let us see if / what Patek creates as a solution...

i think its a gorgeous piece. it may not be for everyone and when its compared against the other metal/dial combinations, folks will have different ones they'll like better. but for me just by itself, its a sublime piece but i can't handle the price for t...  

I used to own a black dial Patek, the 3970EP. Although the dial is smaller, it was very difficult to read, especially the sub dials. Maybe it was my eyes. I now have a Omega Speedy 50th Ann black enamel dial with white hands which I find much easier to re... 

I had in the past anothers 5970, today I recive my new platinium, I love this watch, the dial is interesting, the view is eassy, I have another complicate patek in black dial, a 5004R, abd the dial of this watch is better...  

A Beauty! I think this is my favorite combination...Platinum and Black dial are hard to beat. Huge congrats. Best, Nicolas

This watch excites me very much and I hope that I can enjoy it for many years ( when it finally arrives) and then one day one of my sons will get the same pleasure from it....One can only hope....Your wife has great taste and I always ask my wife about wa...  

As I stated, although I don't own a 5970P, it doesn't mean I can't appreciate it for what it is......"Striking". The ebony dial simply took my breath away. You have a great collection. As collectors, there are watches that we buy because we like them, or ... 

I have no regrets about letting it go, though. I've had a few grails in my life and once they are yours, it becomes entirely personal. I have not done very well with Pateks, although I have owned some of the better ones... I may not be ' Patek guy' after ...

make a sacrifice....buy another watch (doesnt matter which), that is 42mm or so and very very heavy. You may hate it, but after a while you will get used to it. And then, after such a monster thr 5970P will seem light! I had a similar problem on watch dia...
