change one’s appreciation of and joy from wearing a watch. Now don’t get me wrong I loved this watch dearly before changing the strap, but I was never thrilled with the prior brown strap. It suited the character of the watch perfectly, but I found it to be a bit dull. That said, the reason I wanted to change the strap was more basic …. physical comfort. The too short sizing of this short strap made it uncomfortable and risky to take on and off without dropping the watch.
I had a strap that was much the same but larger. I thought this will suit this vintage watch well but it won’t suit my personal sense of aesthetics.
The lug width of 3448 is a bit unusual at 20 mm, so I had few choices among straps I owned. I thought this blue/yellow strap might be a temporary solution as its custom fit was perfect for my wrist and the colors perfectly matched the blue sky/yellow moon and stars and case. That said I thought its character was a bit of a mismatch with this watch from 1978. Eventually, I would find the right strap for and the watch.
But when I tried it on to my great surprise and delight I absolutely loved it!!!!! It significantly magnified the great love I already had for the watch. I couldn’t believe that for me it was even more intensely beautiful and captivating than before. And all it took was a different strap😊

sure that you are 100% right. It absolutely is more appropriate. I however tend to “go to the beat of my own drummer” and that drummer has sent me in a different direction😂

Fantastic combo ! I was a sport watch / bracelet kind of watch collector. Until I stated buying more “classic” pieces and started getting bolder with strap selections and found a new love and appreciation in watch collecting. Now I’m all in on straps…lol ...
Thanks for the nice things you say and very happy to hear about your current path in collecting. For me the colorful straps tend to make “dress watches” appear to be more sporty.
Perhaps that is part of the appeal of these straps for you?
