A watch manufacturer gains reputation through a variety of different avenues. For Patek Philippe, one could argue that over its long history, it has maintained a dedication to quality and craftsmanship that has set it apart from other manufacturers. Equal...
......I think the perpetual is a fascinating beast. Each variant has something special about it. I have truly debated the modern 5327 with blue dial variant. I think it is stunning. But of all my watches, modern and vintage, the 3448 sings sweetest to me....
The new 5327 is stunning but I will wait till the platinum case will appear and then I'll get that. Another great is 5320 but with that it's a similar story - I'm waiting for platinum. However, in vintage watches YG is really nice because it's the vintage...
The Perpetual Calendar watch, whether "simple", or mated to another complication, is quintessentially Patek-and a claim to fame, as well as horological"firstmanship"(if you're okay with that word). And boy do you come back with a bang after not posting fo...
When I first saw it, I was hit. I knew I had to have it and I knew it would become an important watch for me. As an owner, it has become a much more meaningful watch.....takes a lot to knock the Mk2 off its perch.
...Really great article about the watch that has been my unreachable dream for so many years until... ...until I finally could make the dream come true this year ! I know I am Lucky (at least for that...) and YES still top banana smile when I look at it !...
no question or doubt your 3448 is top banana, and the pinnacle of many PCs. For me, I will probably enjoy the GT3 RS more than the watch. I know some members here, or you 😁 can enjoy both, but I can only choose one and being a mostly modern guy, I go with...
.....that is one incredible car. Stunning car. Maybe an easier comparison is an Aston DB5 vrs a Vanquish......the latter has every conceivable advantage over the former, but the DB5 will always have that something extra. I think you also raise another iss...
As for the post, just superb. The watch is without question incredible from all perspectives. Gorgeous, under the radar, technically interesting, and a whole lot of history and DNA, all in a little package that can be strapped to your wrist. I really enjo...
I have to say it sometimes amazes me that we see such a classic coming from the same company that produces some of the modern PP Any how Enjoy wearing that piece of art , archoitecture and horology all rolled into one J
......i really do understand your comment. To me, Patek is now catering to a stratified clientele. I find some of the modern Pateks truly fantastic and exciting. In fact, i see some of their modern watches as amongst the most interesting of all manufactur...
I know the 3940 gets a lot of love, and it is well-deserved. It is beautiful, it is slim, it was Patek's answer to the naysayers who said quartz was going to put an end to mechanical watches... ...But the 3448 is the king. It is so clean and easy to read....
......it was certainly an attempt in the 1960s to create something of a futuristic look. Also interesting to hear Patek themselves believe that its design was one of the best.
2 known in rose gold; a very few with no moonphase at 6 o'clock register and a WG 3448 with red dot leap year indicator (ala 3448). Examples of the last 2 of those variants were part of the recent extraordinary NY Christie's exhibit. Also, I think it bear...
and I read where you mention the 5396 sharing dna with the 3448. I see that not only in the dial lay-out (which has to be purposeful) but with the chamfered bezel as well; something also shared by the 5230. Makes one wonder if we will see more of this bez...
...was thinking again about your great article about the 3448. I read it again and was thinking I shall never thank you enough. Really top article about the Wonder Watch dear Joe ! And your pics really render justice to its beauty. Top banana!!!
