Patek Philippe

It is a question of taste and style

The balance between the look of the brushed surfaces and how the rest of the watch is decorated is an important element to consider.

For instance, I think the style of a RO will accept more pronounced brushed surfaces whereas the Nautilus will prefer a thinner one to match its smoother style.

I never payed attention to this difference in the past but I see this may be appealing to you.

Personally, I would never try to touch the brushed parts and ask for such work because these cases and bracelets are very difficult to work that way and touching it will take off some material and are more likely to have an impact on the edges' look.

You can ask Patek but I'm quite sure they'll say no.

And from my own taste, I find that a less pronounced brush work is more refined, especially as I said, for a 5711.

Would a more pronounced brushed surface more prone to be scratched? I don't know but that's maybe a question to answer too.

White gold is brighter than Steel so it won't look the same either. The 2 materials don't have the same hardness so it will maybe not look the same either on the 5711 compared to the 5976 you saw.

Now, it is you taste that count and if you prefer definitely after a while the thicker one, it is perfect. However, after a new polishing of the case you won't be able to come back to what it was unless you make another one again.

Best, Mark
