Honestly Nat, I'm not a very emotional person so fortunately for me my heart and my mind usually think the same thing.
But for watches, if I were you, I'd let my heart do all the talking.
For instance, I really like the 5960P and the 5070P. Now, I'm not currently considering making an acquisition of either; but I think the 5960P is a more practical watch than the 5070P. The 5960 has a 12-hour chronograph, date (I don't remember the date, so this is a necessity), an annual calendar, and an in-house movement. However, on the other hand, the 5070 pushes my buttons with its blue dial, clean design, beautiful case and lugs, and beautiful movement. Notice, the things I like about the 5070 are all aesthetic. If I were prepared to spend some money, I would be going with the 5070P and not the 5960P despite the 5960 being the more practical choice.
Personally, I like the 5960 in platinum, I think it is a much more stunning watch. You may balk at this since your 5146J with slate dial has a similar dial.
However, I think the rose gold version is worth special consideration. The 5960R is the first watch to receive the new Patek Philippe Seal, which gives it some significance. It represents a start of a new era.
