Not sure about a 3970 costing you more BUT........
I would go for the 5970 for two reasons only.........
Firstly the 5970 simply looks much better on my wrist and the square pushers just do it for me........The 3970 is too thick IMO...
Secondly I believe the 5970 to be in fewer numnbers.....Before anyone shouts at me this is just my personel beliefs......Esspecially the 5970p......
I have the 5970P and 5970Rg and would have a hard time if I was off to a desert island....But if pushed I would take my 5970Rg....It is so beautiful and for me gives me the warm vintage glow that this watch should .........
Now for the only negative thought I have about this watch....... ............ The crown should have been somewhat bigger......Needed to be more like its vintage relations..... Not that easy to hand wind and looks on the small side.....Again just my thoughts....

how ever it is a very personal choice. If you decide to go for the 3970 I think you would actually find yourself saving money not adding it.
