For my wife and I - a moment like this is the culmination of extreme sacrifice of several years. Zero restaurant outings, no take-out nor delivery food, no movie theaters, very few outings, one mini-vacation per year, etc. We've been happily operating on discipline mode. Kind of like a sport. Not looking for sympathy at all because we understand the crazy exclusivity/blessing of being able to acquire a Patek. To be sure we are punching way above our weight class to be able to do this and we're beyond excited to open the box tonight.

True - I do own one other Patek
And that only other Patek required 9 years of dedicated savings. That's why this is my last watch. These watches require too many years of extreme financial sacrifice. I'm not a watch-a-holic nor a collector. I simply appreciate them Best, Robert

This was not uncommon practice. ADs would log the watch as "sold." The ADs generally send sell-through reports electronically to Patek Philippe HQ every day, weekly, or monthly (depending on their contract and what region they'e in). Selling a watch soone...
Out of curiosity - how many PP5170R-001 pieces were made?
Made in the years 2016, 2017 and 2018. Would it be a good guess to say about 70-100 each year of that very specific reference (rose gold with opaline dial) More or less? Best, Robert
Hard to say. Probably more than that.
I'm thinking a little more than that. Keeping in mind how many stores there are and that each store needs to get around one piece every 18 months or so, and the larger stores may even get close to 2 pieces in 18 months. But this is just estimation.

No. That would not be an accurate blanket statement.
It obviously depends on the model. For instance, a simple Calatrava, the AD will probably receive one or two of them each year - if they pre-ordered in advance. And more complicated models, they will receive fewer pieces per year. Maybe 0.5 pieces a year ...
