Philippe Stern was an absolute genius and visionary in the world of horology. This was evident not just in the super complicated high end masterpieces, but
in line of watches that opened the world of Patek Philippe to a much larger audience with a series of models that started in the mid 90s and continues to this day - the mid level complication.
Before the AC 5035 it was pretty much Calatrava or PC. The 5035 was just the opener. Then came more ACs (with moonphases or chronographs), chronographs, travel times , WTs, weekly calendar, complications in the sports lines, etc etc.
These watches are practical, complicated, fun and while expensive, are a relative bargain compared to the more high end pieces. A brilliant, innovative and game changing move that radically changed in the most positive ways, Patek and the world of horology generally.
He will be sorely missed. My condolences to all family and his many friends around the world.
And thank you Emmanuel for your special tribute to the great man.

So glad that he got to wear the 1938P and enjoyed the tribute his son paid to him. Must have been a touching moment between father and son, no matter what others thought of this watch.
