Hi,
Congratulations on your 1000 posts and even more on your superb Patek Philippe.
Have a look here, you're not the only vintage PP lover (as you in fact obviously):

Why are there possibly more vintage watch lovers on the Omega forum than the PP forum (relatively to the respective number of new watch lovers of course)?
Well take it or leave it, and please don't take it as a disdain for new Omega watch lovers for whom I owe and have respect, but my opinion is that possibly the modern PP watches perpetuate the historical PP appeal, while I'd have a hard time finding dreamwatches in the current Omega catalog. Omega makes good and even very good watches, some are very beautiful, they are interestingly priced and so much more accessible than Patek Philippe watches, but when you grow as a watch fan, your requirements tend to increase in time. Vintage Omega watches are definitely worth a lasting love and can even easily justify an exclusive love. Modern Omega watches have less arguments IMVHO (specially on the calibre side, when modern Omega cases mainly ETA calibres).
On the contrary modern Patek Philippe don't cease to amaze us years after years. And vintage Patek Philippe watches being rarer than Omega watches, and so much more expansive, are limited to a much more limited audience, with probably many dreamers like myself for instance, but far less lucky owners.
It's time to confess that at a Patek Philippe forum moderator I wish to buy myself a Patek Philippe ASAP and I struggle between my wish for a 5711/1A that I see as the most tempting modern choice in my situation and potential means, and a vintage piece that comes nearly always back first when I think of another modern piece of more classical style (a 5098, a 6000, a 5124 or a 5120 for instance).
I hope to end up with both, a 5711/1A and a beautiful dressed vintage....
Cheers
