Debating the J over the R and vice versa seems like a luxury problem: both are very distinct, and have specific features (grainy, sunburst) which are attractive.
I went for the R, after my friend showed me his J. Usually to be worn on special occasions like going out for dinner or so. Not every day for sure.
Hope you make your choice before someone else buys the watch from your dealer.

My philosophy of use when it comes to watches (as well as most other things)....
is exactly the same as yours, I simply don't collect anything, I either purchase something to use it or I don't buy it in the first place! With this unique PP, my preference is for the 'nocturne' rose gold version because the color combination really suit...

The 2554 is a great piece, no doubt about that.
And it's indeed slimmer and more compact than the beefier 5100. But I didn't fall in love with it when trying it on. Whereas the 5100 really impressed me. Very personal of course. Thanks for sharing your beautiful photo and have a great weekend. Best, Emm...
Emmanuel, great write up as always. While in general I much prefer rose to yellow, I share your preference for 5100 J over the R and for
the same reason. I much prefer the J dial. Also, share your view that a daily (or frequently) worn watch should be very comfortable on the wrist. If infrequently worn, one might be a little more open minded. Enjoy the weekend. Best, Patekova

The watch is very accurate by my non-scientific measurements. It keeps up with my I-Phone 😉. Usually, the last day will be off.
Caliber 28-20/220 is COSC certified,
so I would except it to be quite accurate, just like the 8 days power reserve calibre of my Quattro Spirit 25 (in the case of this jumping hour watch, the accuracy is very palpable because the hourly click of the jumping disc invites you to check the time...
