Some watches get a lot of attention, others don't. The "invisibly-hinged dust cover" ref. 5227 , introduced in 2013 and still in the current catalog, belongs to the second category. And rightly so? I'm curious to read what you think. The watch is powered ...  

But this is of no importance For me it is near to be the perfect watch Its most gorgeous feature is its case with these subtle concavities all around, and the officier caseback. The serenity of the dial design, the creamy lacquer, the perfect proportions ...

White discs never bothered me. But I can fully understand. For the rotor, I don't think the micro rotor is more beautifull (and I owned a Chopard Luc mark iii classic), but I confess this is a very subjective statement.

next time I have the chance to see a 5227. I'm increasingly wary of judgments based solely on photos (although I still make such judgments, but I know I have to fight this habit and withhold any definitive judgment until I see the watch in the metal). Bes... 

DNA, and the concaved lugs plus hinged cover bring it to another level. The cream dial provides a vintage look, while the black one is powerful. In recent years with sports models being prominent, this classy looking 5227 is underrated, for now.

I've tried on this model in 2021 and wasn't fully convinced (date disc not matching this dial, not felling very attracted to the central rotor), but I would like to try it on again someday to see if I still feel the same way. Thanks for your comment. Best... 

I owned a 5227R years ago and really enjoyed it but long term I could not get used to the missing double index at 12 🤷‍♂️ Watch nerds are sometimes a bit special 🫣

The single index at 12 is very fine for me (my LF has a single index too), but, on the other hand, I would like the date disc to match the dial (like in the black dial variant) and I find the central rotor a little less exciting than the micro rotor Chopa... 

Are a lovely feature in my eyes. Allowing you a peak of your really wish but not shouting of what’s inside at the same time. Wish these were more common nowadays 🤞🏻

The invisible hinged back is really well done.. But the case itself just doesn’t sing to me.. I think it has a very similar shape to the 5327.. I would have preferred a slightly thicker bezel.. in its current form (even at a perfect 39) looks abit big to ...

For example, the polishing of the markers and hands, the case design, the sunken hinge of the case-back, you can immediately see the difference, assuming one cares about such things. “The devil is in the details”.

5227g ivory dial is such a beautiful interpretation of the Calatrava.
