Hi Dje,
I only wanted to point out that the vast interest in PP started with the thematic auction, now it continuous through the clever management of the brand and of cause
due to the high quality of the watches. And the small numbers produced (with the complicated refs) command high prices due to the market rules "ask and bid" demand and availability.
Concerning the mentioned numbers of produced watches:
It is for vintage pieces only!
A friend of mine who was one of the most avid PP collectors I know, who owned more than 130 vintage pieces (including perpetual calendars, etc.) did his homework. He took the number of produced movements from the numbers chart and devided them through the number of production years, so he got the average number of movements/watches produced in one year... it is about 4500 movements/pieces spread over the vast number of different references - hence the rarity of several ref. without any "limited edition" production as (mis)used by several brands in our days (i.g. IWC, Omega, ...)
best
