Wearing 5905P - first impressions

First of all, I will send much better pictures when I get the time.

It has been said many times that the sub-dial of 5905P is too thickly printed. Rubbish! One picture lies more than 1,000 words. In reality this one-hour dial looks good and balanced on the dial but when magnifying the picture, the same looks massive. That is not the case on the real life. For me this was again a good reminder: it is very important always handle the watch in metal before jumping into conclusions!

The potential buyers will have a very difficult decision: 5905P-001 (blue) or 5905P-010 (black). I like both but the blue even more. That dial with its sun rays structure looks stunning and the light is really playing on the dial turning it from nearly black navy blue to bright blue and sometimes greyish blue. The black one is "ebony black", somehow matt, but also interesting.

The only reasons why I did not take the blue were:

- Blue is too fashionable at the moment and Patek introduced i.e. in 2015 at least three new references with blue dial. I expect that the black one will look better when blue is out of fashion.
- I have already six PP watches with blue dial, one more is on order and I expect to see several new references with blue dial during the coming years.

So the dial colour is a difficult choice.

On the wrist the watch is an absolute joy. Somehow the dial is very sophisticated and this watch has the famous "wrist presence". The new pushers are smooth as butter and reading the passing time when the chronograph is used is much easier than reading the same from 5960.

I think 5905P is an evolution model of 5960P and somehow much more sophisticated than the older model which is at its nicest on 5960/1A, except the bracelet. But that issue can be solved like I have illustrated earlier.

For me 5905P is a valuable addition to my Patek chronograph box and I am sure that it will give me years of pleasure.

Which one you like - the blue or the black?

Best, Kari
