Patek Philippe

Well

Hi Nicolas,

I know your point as we already discussed it.

As I understand it this is definitely not Patek Philippe's policy to develop competing (between each other) calibres.

For each use there's one calibre.

The 240 base is the ultra thin auto base. I don't expect to ever see another ultra thin auto base from Patek Philippe as long as the 240 is not discontinued.

If it's worthy for the Celestial or the 5140 it is obviously worthy for the more accessible models. Why put a lesser model on simpler models?

And as they consider it worthy for the upper models why change it?

Patek Philippe's position is to make the smaller calibres for the required use (and it's part of the Patek Philippe Seal principles), so that's not their spirit to develop different calibres in different sizes to equip comparable watches of different size.

I'm sorry to write that but I feel that having a specific calibre for each watch is a marketing strategy of a German brand we know well, and nothing more. I don't see any historical significance of such positioning. And it was not always respected by this brand either.

Cheers

Dje
