It has also been said, I think quite rightly, that the 3970 has the DNA of its legendary predecessor, the 2499. From the shape and styling of the case to the general layout of the dial the evolution is apparent. This particularly applies IMHO to the first and second series 3970 - which category your beautiful watch falls into.

I read in a German watch magazine some years ago that ref 3970 has a soul What Guys do you think?...
An object will never have a soul...
it creates emotions... but it remains an object even if we love them. This watch is beautiful of course! Fx
Great photos/ I remember one dealer told me
that all hand-made watches have 'a soul' because they are imbued with the maker's spirit and energy... I would suggest that some hand made watches have more soul than others--for instance, a Roger Smith, made to an extent almost entirely literally by hand...
