why 5070?
why do you like/love the 5070P? a totally unscientific straw poll amongst 5070 owners seems to produce the following reasons:
1) 42mm PP...where else?
2) Lemania based movement
3) out of production soon(poll was done in 2008)
if these are also some of the reasons you have for owning the 5070P, then i think you shld sell/trade it for a 5970J, pony up a little extra cash and buy another lemania based chrono by Breguet or VC or even Roger Dubuis(cheapest amongst them, Geneva seal too). buying the 5970J i suspect would provide the same PP ownership experience(at least the pride of it) and the tactile feel etc etc simlar to the 5070(owners of both please confirm/refute this)
i had a 5070j which is sold and bot a VC malte chrono and used the difference to subsidize the purchase of a JLC Duometre. i am saving up for the 5970, but expended part of that savings few months back on a 5960P instead, so i m starting from base again...sigh)

As classic as
the 5140 defintiely is, I find it a little too small - in diameter and depth...... for me. I did look at the WG model, also strikingly good-looking. Auto is also practical, but it didn't quite resonate with me as much as the larger models... Regards

as much as I like the 5970
this is ofcourse my personal opinion and like the Frech say "les gouts et les couleurs ne se discutent pas" but this platinum 5070 with it's magnificent blue dial is so much nicer than any 5970. I would like to have a 5970 and I would prefer the yellow go...

You may be right. Both are 1yr productions, but i assumed (possibly icorrectly) that a grand complication would have lower production planned than a simple complication watch. I do wonder whether many 5970P watches were ordered at the height of the housin...

I would go for the 5970
but only because I personally like it more. I happen to feel the say way as you do that future value or at least retention of value effects my personal collecting decisions because my budget dictates this. I think both watches are beautiful and neither on...

Unless we're talking about a very rare metal for a case (such as a situation where only one watch was made of a certain metal) then long-term what matters most usually is the movement. Here we're talking about a complicated perpetual calendar chronograph ...

Both are beautiful, but the 5970J is more complicated
and should be more desirable in the future. In my opinion the 5970J was produced in smaller numbers than the 5070P and has a nicer size 40mm vs 42mm. The case on the 5970 has much nicer lines than the 5070. I have to admit the dial on the 5070P is awesome...
