Last August, I was able to try on the rose gold 40 mm Cubitus, ref. 7128/1R-001. On a small 16 cm wrist like mine, the size feels good and the sunburst brown dial is really appealing . The 8.5 mm thickness and the very r efined construction and finishing ...
Not exactly my style and as much as I appreciate the attempt of introducing more shaped watches that will likely sell, I cannot but feel that it’s a low effort and low cost attempt at doing so - recycle as many design elements of the Nautilus as possible,...
it’s a poor attempt with a lot of recycling. But if you forget about the Nautilus and consider the watch in itself, it’s far from unappealing though disappointing as far as the movement is concerned. Best, Emmanuel
And like you say, if the Nautilus didn’t exist there are quite some appealing aspects to it. But a shaped movement would definitely have been in order 👍🏻
The Nautilus is/was a refined shape, and the ears make sense! Vice versa here they are clumsy and meke no sense for this shape. I agree to KMII, low effort from a non-designer to create something new with the elements that were/are successful. A pity for ...
It may be because I’ve never been very deeply interested in the Nautilus. I don’t know, but all I can say is that the hands on experience with the Cubitus is far from awful, even if I don’t like the movement side of it. Just my personal feeling of course....
I think it looks great on your wrist. And I love the patek RG/chocolate dial combo. A friend just recently purchased the larger SS reference with a green dial. It looks great. If offered I would def purchase.
because when I reflect on older pieces you have shared in previous write ups and the recent post by Nico yesterday showing the unique shaped case by Vacheron, the Cubitus on some level elicits an immediate (but brief) negative reaction. I don’t know why, ...
you have to forget about the Nautilus and pretend you don’t even know it exists. With the Nautilus in mind, the Cubitus can only be considered as a lazy rip off. But if you forget about it and just think about how it feels on your wrist, it’s far from una...
For me I have very mixed feelings on this one. Personally I can’t accept it. I don’t own any of the sports Patek. But for me I’d go for a Nautilus first and foremost. Best Gatsby
But I think the way one appreciates this watch depends on whether or not you have the Nautilus in mind. If you do, the Cubitus can only considered as a more or less lazy square remake. But if you forget about the Nautilus, the Cubitus is far from unappeal...
It is quite hard not to think about the Nautilus when it comes to the Cubitus. Also I do not understand the “need” and the purpose for another sports watch under the Patek catalogue. Which is why I’ve never thought of owning one. One big issue is, with ic...
And I know of course that it is impossible to forget about the Nautilus when approaching the Cubitus. My point was just to say that this watch, if you look at it with an opened mind, is far from being unattractive even if it’s disappointing as far as the ...
and independently of my opinion on the design this 40mm is a woman's watch. My wife tried it as well, and it fit her perfectly and she has got very thin wrists.
and perhaps not the worst, but certainly the most disappointing new release since I became interested in watches. The significantly more wearable 40mm version doesn't change that for me.
And I also consider that this watch can only be fully appreciated if you forget about the Nautilus. Considered in itself it’s far from unappealing though disappointing as far as the movement is concerned imo. Best, Emmanuel
but it's how this watch made me feel. If I was trying to be honest with myself, I had to recognise that it was, considered in itself, far from being unappealing, even if disappointing as far as the movement is concerned. I know the Nautilus exists, of cou...
My point was just that, if you forget about the existence of the Nautilus, the Cubitus is far from unappealing even if I find it disappointing as fas as the movement is concerned. Best, Emmanuel
controversial watch and balanced views on it. I have had the opportunities to try on all versions of the Cubitus. Although I have small wrists like you, I find the 45mm size is large but I could still pull it off because it is thin. When I tried on the 40...
But it’s better in real life than I would have thought even if I find the movement disappointing. And the 40 mm size worked for me, especially with this full rose gold example. Best, Emmanuel
