I must be a magnet for predicaments as I seem to be in search of the ultimate watches in terms of fit, comfort, dial, movement, elegance and accuracy and function. Whereas many may settle for an extremely good timepiece, I make it intentionally difficult ...
Thank you Baron!

The Vantage is living on borrowed time I am afraid, especially with a new model coming out later this year. Still it has been wonderful owning it. I really do appreciate your feedback even though our tastes may be somewhat different as I respect that you ...
really?

i am definitely not an authority at all....i just know what pleases me...and ,i guess, what doesn't. I enjoy delving deep into a watch for sure....but a long long way from an authority. Genuinely...i find the 5136G really appealing as I can see myself wit...
You will not believe it!

but I do not own a pair of jeans! But I see your rationale with the 5136G. Pity you do not like the 5940G which I personally feel exudes a certain aura, a certain elegance. But if you do not like the shape, then little can change that. Thanks again.
Thank you Keks!

I feel it might be difficult to bring myself to sell the 5940G after such a short period of ownership and I simply love the dial and the thinness of the watch. The 5136G is heavier being a bracelet watch and also thicker. But the size is purrrfect!!!!
Thanks Alex!

I am about to do number one! I am a stubborn oaf and prefer to buy new rather than used so a 3940 would not be a good option and besides I have tried them on before but the 5136G fits like a glove probably due to the curvature of the lugs to accommodate t...
Let me guess!!

You sell jeans for a living??!! Actually I am quite surprised at the popularity of the 5136G compared to the 5940G from the replies so far. And the Aston, well considering this is a watch forum, it is amazing how a car can seem more attractive than a Pate...
Ha!

I actually tried it on at Basel. Not sure what the hype is all about. Nice watch but I did feel much love for it unlike the 5170P! As far as perpetual calendars go, I would definitely prefer the 5940G and 5136G! Even the 5159G is nicer but that's just my ...
Thanks Gordon!

You have made two very practical choices and I did consider the practicality of the gold strap in the tropics. I am not sure however if the 5136G will hold its value better as it was produced from 2003 to 2008 whereas the 5940G was only produced from 2014...
Thanks Mark!

I actually wish I can purchase the 5136G today but my golden handshake from my retirement comes in only in June hence the wait! But yes you are right Mark - I have a good friend who has three Patek chronographs and is looking for his fourth! Others have a...
Absolutely agree

Having more than one perpetual is not issue at all. Especially not if they happen to be manufactured by Patek. The 5940 and 5136 wears differently so suits different occasions. Good luck with your decision and look forward to reading about how it evolves!...
Thank you!

This is quite an unexpected purchase as I had made the pilgrimage to the Salon last week just before my trip to Basel as a 'appetizer' to the 'main course'. But sometimes the appetizer is better than the main course and in this case even more expensive!!
I am full of surprises! :-)

But I have decided on the two watches that suit me best rather than the two best watches. No different I guess from choosing a life partner What is best for one person may not be best for another. With my uncompromising wrist size, any watch larger than 3...
