Such a hard question to answer.....
....as personal taste is such a big criteria here.
If i gave you my view, how would that help? I know my personal taste would push me in different directions.
First, i am not a fan of the 5940 case style...so that would immediately push me towards the other two.
Then....well...you know what i am going to say next...so that would push me towards the 5940 and 5136.
But then.....i would like the variety of different complications...so back to 5136 and 5170 again
I REALLY do like the 5136 and think it offers a huge amount of flexibility as a sporty yet classy watch. So, that is where i will stop...out of the mix, definitely take the 5136...or i would anyway.
Out of the other two......

I feel it might be difficult to bring myself to sell the 5940G after such a short period of ownership and I simply love the dial and the thinness of the watch. The 5136G is heavier being a bracelet watch and also thicker. But the size is purrrfect!!!!
Well, very subjective of course, but I do love the case of the 5940
so I think you already have the perfect PC, so my vote would be to go for the 5170. That would make an awesome pair with lots of differences...manual/automatic; round/cushion, PC/Chronograph, silver/blue... CC

1. Get your name down asap for that 5170. 2. While you wait, spend the time hunting down a first series dial 3940. 3. If (2) fails, make that call to Aston Martin.

for dress watches not because I am always in a suit but it is just somehow more me. A Nautilus, aquanaut or a Rolex would look out of place on my wrist for those who know me. Saying that the 5136G is pretty versatile
Definitely not. Buy one watch and 2 pairs of jeans (3 new acquisitions!). Then put on the 5136 and the jeans and go for a drive in the Aston thinking about all the money you saved.
So no "sacrifice". 3 acquisitions for the price of one!

You have made two very practical choices and I did consider the practicality of the gold strap in the tropics. I am not sure however if the 5136G will hold its value better as it was produced from 2003 to 2008 whereas the 5940G was only produced from 2014...

This is quite an unexpected purchase as I had made the pilgrimage to the Salon last week just before my trip to Basel as a 'appetizer' to the 'main course'. But sometimes the appetizer is better than the main course and in this case even more expensive!!
