Over the past few years, I've been collecting pateks but recently sold off all of my collection (5070g, 5960p, 5130p, etc) to focus on independents. Yes, it's true but I just lost the pp feeling... even sold my nautilus collection like my 5980 (too thick) and my 3710 (love the power reserve but couldn't get past the roman numerals). Sold them all and didn't think twice... no regrets for some reason. But today, I was walking past my AD and thought about the 5711/1a... always had a thing for it but instead chased after the simple complications. Well suffice it to say they had one in stock (of course)... and well I'm back and a proud owner of the 5711/1a... it's awesome and probably one that'll I'll keep for a long time. One word comes to mind... iconic!

flirted with the 5712 idea (Nicolas was kind enough to let me "play" with it)..... However, I prefer the 5711 for its simple sporty elegance..... (the chrono nautilus would be an option but it has quite a price tag.... one subdial chronos though are mesme...

The Nautilus is without a doubt a very impressive and well made watch but the term tool watch takes it perhaps a bit too far. That is like taking your Rolls to the local Home Depot to get some lumber and nails... Of course it is possible.... Kind of remin...

love the watch. still kept in right proportions unlike the other Genta creation the APRO, which has mothed into a monster size. the 5711 is a really versatile watch and suit most occasions...under the sleeves, in tees, business suit etc etc.

5960 combines everything.... granted, it is a bit thick, but it may also be worn as a dress watch.... (not as much as 5070 or 5170) Personally I prefer manual watches so I would want it to be manual..... Cheers
