Agree, I saw one earlier this year at a US AD (I don't visit them as regularly as Italian ADs, but it's always fun when I do -- last time I "found" a 5131R still stored in a safe! ;-), and here's the R version, which is definitely a gem!
I guess a reason is its "perfect" proportions, whatever this means (in certain areas of mathematics, the "golden ratio" does have an important meaning and shows up often in your work....the same is apparently true in nature). Maybe one day I will add one ...
Yep, that is precisely the number! ;-) The most important time I used this constant $\phi$ in a mathematical paper was probably when I was studying the growth of certain "differential posets" (I wrote quite a few things in this area while at MIT)....
....and after performing some miracles, $\phi$ explains precisely the largest growth of the posets! Anyways, art and nature are full of examples as well, and fortunately for us, also horology...and it's always great when all these areas intersect! Cheers....
