Very nice post, full of taste on your part...in my view, the 5738 reference (in both of its P and R iterations) is impossible to surpass in terms of sheer elegance! Pair it with its 3738 predecessor, and you have a truly unbeatable dress-watch duo! ;-)

Agree, I saw one earlier this year at a US AD (I don't visit them as regularly as Italian ADs, but it's always fun when I do -- last time I "found" a 5131R still stored in a safe! ;-), and here's the R version, which is definitely a gem!

Yep, that is precisely the number! ;-) The most important time I used this constant $\phi$ in a mathematical paper was probably when I was studying the growth of certain "differential posets" (I wrote quite a few things in this area while at MIT)....

Nope, no typo there, but the 5131R was at a different AD (in a different US state) from the one that showed me the 5738R…the 5131 was a surprise also for me since that was my first visit, but sometimes small “miracles” may happen😉 Cheers.

No problem at all! ;-)) We are now big friends with that AD (and if they EVER sell this 5131R we decided that it will be mine, of course at MSRP....we'll see! ;-)

The PP Elipses are not my usual type of watch ... but the more I look at them the more they attract me ... one day probably ...
