I've not played with any of the original Harwoods to judge so I'll defer to you on that.  On the other hand, though, putting that caveat (reliable, or workable) in the article would have made that clear, versus "The first self-winding watch was offered to the public by Rolex in 1931." which comes across as a statement of inaccurate fact.

Frankly I'm still bitter they patented the full-rotor automatic despite 150 years of prior art, but I digress.
