watch collecting is a journey and along the way we pick some up and let some go. to rationalize what to keep is most personal as value is derived from subjective notions and we all value things differently. the remaining six are to a third party each an enviable piece of rolex history. add to that your personal memories and you have a grand collection. vintage rolex is perhaps going to the moon price wise but there is good reason for that. part of it has to do with the growing number of people on our planet with the economic freedom to prioritize material pleasures. add to that the quite often soul-less mass production and often ridiculous pricing with poor resale and it is easy to see why vintage rolex has such an appeal. rich in history, limited in numbers (and getting fewer as some get worn out over time), and so versatile. And liquid at that. Quite easy to turn back into money. Naturally there are a growing number of dealers capitalizing on this phenomenon as well as growing incentives for counterfeits. but such is the world unfortunately… sorry for the ramble, but there is something poetic about a personal collection of vintage timepieces that has been well cared for. thanks for sharing!
