What attracted me most in this watch, was the combination of an annual calender, value for money and it's versatility. A watch you can wear always and everywhere. Being used to wearing a day-date (WG) the bezel doesn't bother me.
Regarding the colour of the dial, I took black on purpose. Black is classic and I like this combination of white metal-black dial. Blue looks great, but I just don't like blue dials and think of it being a tad trendy. White is interesting too, but I tend to think it's less legible.

I, too, have a love hate relationship with the fluted bezel.
Functions aside, i sometimes love the way it catches the light. Sometimes I feel it screams too much when I’m around town.

And I felt exactly the same and it took me a few years and the birth of the blue dial to convince me. I think you and I have similar taste and the bezel was wrong to begin with as it to me belonged on a Datejust in white gold and not on such a sporty comp...
I believe they are but they still bug me :-)
In general I think Rolex hands are not has visible as they should be due to how they polish them compared to other brands. Except for the more sporty hands like in the submariners and the like, I find most of the "straight" hands from Rolex do not provide...

LOL mon ami. No need to tell you how I feel about this since I owned all 3 dial colors but now only have the blue and white. Before this SkyD I never owned a Rolex with a fluted bezel and like you I did not like it either...

Whaouah, you had a chance at the WG blue SkyD Roger. That is a bit of a unicorn from Rolex as they only made VERY few. It is actually the one I want and I would happily trade my blue and white dials in SS for the WG blue dial, even if I had to add cash 💸

Yeah. I was even told at the time that it was a unicorn.
But buying just to hold on and sell later isn’t my thing. I sold my blue dial patek 5980 because it just didn’t wear right on me. I made money, but that’s not my general pursuit.
Similar to others, this timepiece creates polar opposites... fun dialogue.
