While several members are rightly happy with the modern re-edition - and it has been high time for Grand Seiko to look at the 45GS and make an appropriate modern hand wound movement for it, I am likewise enjoying the historical grandfather - the 4520-8000...
That it is - and one I truly like!
Especially since I have always been a fan of hi-beat movements. And hand wound ones are a tad rarer 👍🏻

With Emmanuel’s able and scholarly assistance, I just scored a Ref. 43999, the Grand Seiko Self-Dater, from 1964. It is from the 57 GS Series. I don’t have it in hand yet, but here’s a pic or two or four from the ad. These vintage Grand Seikos are certain...

Been wearing Dad's '66 Seiko Sea Lion . . .
. . . since yesterday . . . . . . which replaced the GS SBGW287 . . . . . . in the rotation. So yes, it's been a Seiko week for this Omega guy. Vintage Seiko - not to mention King and Grand - is just as rewarding as the Swiss stuff. Best, Art ...
