The Grand Seiko Paris Vendôme Limited Edition
This is reference SBGK011, a limited edition of 10 pieces created to celebrate the opening of the Grand Seiko Boutique in Paris in 2020, at 7 Place Vendôme.
It was the first boutique of the Japanese brand in continental Europe and its largest one in the world.
Also, the the small seconds hand is coloured in blue-green, reminiscent of the oxidised bronze colour of the Vendôme Column that is in the middle of the square where the new boutique is located.
For the same reason, the crocodile strap which comes in addition to the original strap also features this blue-green color.
The watch is powered by the hand-wound calibre 9S63, with 72 h power reserve and each caseback is individually numbered and bears the mention “EDITION LIMITÉE PLACE VENDÔME”.
The 950 platinum case measures 39 x 11.6 mm.
A rose gold variant was also made, ref. SBGK013, also limited to 10 pieces.

The dial features a pattern that is named “Pavés Parisiens” (Parisian paving stones) and depicts the cobblestone streets of Paris.

I quite like this reference which is hardly ever seen, but I think the case should have been smaller.
Also a more interesting and visually appealing movement would have been welcome.

I am also a bit surprised that GS never had a boutique on the continent until 2020!

It's an interesting design although I agree with yoir assessment. Going on looks alone, the case seems a bit large. The dial is very cool but a bit busy and nkt harmonious. Interesting but there are GS version that are better executed in my opinion.
The dial is ok for me, but the case size not so much...
I prefer my SLGW005, even if, as you say, this one is interesting... Best, Emmanuel

I'm glad that the power-reserve indicator is visually balanced here by the small seconds display (unlike on many other GS references, where the sense of symmetry is thrown off by the PR).
you had me at platinum and that too from Grand Seiko
but totally agree.. the movement was a low point for me too.. nothing special about it. not clear from the pictures, but does it have better movement finishing than the usual man produced one.. if yes, I would have assumed they give it a new movement desi...
