Hey PP
It could have been 6732 rpm also
... and to be honest that was performed on a slightly bigger road (the same road were we hit +/- 5500 rpm in 6th (i think) with the 580 hp RS6
.... which was 260 kph ... .
Note: to understand the significance of this, one must be a real petrolhead (i guess you and graham are). The connection between speed & rpm in a certain gear has always intrigued me
and i have some nice stories to tell ...
like one night i was riding my Bimota down a motorway and i couldn't see my speedometer. The rev-meter was just visible from +12,000 rpm (there was a bag of sandwiches lying on my dash
...) ... so i wanted to know how fast i was going (in 6th) and just kept on going to 12,500 rpm which i knew was 250 kph .... .
or when another friend just bought a Ducati 916 SPS and he asked me to ride it in ... (because the first 500km you had to be carefull and stay under 6000 rpm) .... well it turned out 6000 rpm in 6th gear was +180 kph .... and pulling through all the gears up to 6000 rpm got you quicker at that speed than a 911 Turbo ....
... and after the first 1000 km it still was quicker from 200 to 300 kph
...
So there's no need for you to worry, my dear petrolhead-friend ... i appreciate your concern ... ;-) ..
Best

They are not listening to you Bim: 7000 rpm in fourth gear ??? This is a car that easily disposes of most European speed limits while still in third gear: what did your speedo say on the rev limiter in fourth?? Cheers, pplater

[No idea what happened there - tech hitch?] The first part of that post - before it disappeared in 'parsing', whatever that is - read something like: How easy it is to be misunderstood. The phrase "They're not listening to you Bim" was not meant as 'we do...

... "I appreciate your concern"... Not concern, Bim: admiration ! The beautiful, long, clear, open roads down here beg - just beg! - to be travelled at max revs through each gear. There is only one problem, and it is not the gendarmes . You see, hitting a...
