Purist dogs - please show yours 🐶
After some years of adult responsibility (i.e. resisting) this morning my wife and me finally caved and agreed to succumb to our children’s demands for a dog. Given that my doctor recommended one during the last checkup for me, too, didn’t harm.
My wife and me used to have a wire coated Foxterrier when we were younger (before the kids) and with that experience we decided that a more tractable breed would be in order. While the choice fell to the Lagotto Romagnolo first with a Pumi as a backup, as so often, reality turned out differently.
So it looks like a Tibetan Terrier is on the cards for us in February. The fact that it can easily withstand temperatures of -40 degrees Celsius is an added bonus 🥶
So, who else here has a dog sharing their horology hobby? 😁

Weimaraners are truly beautiful and I would love one but for that a house would be strongly preferable. There’s always a chance of adding a second dog in due course 🤞🏻😉

Felt it a bit easier to take a breed dog the first time, where you have a tad more predictability for the kids 😊👍🏻

After the heirloom piece, pets! ;-) Just kidding, I love dogs and grew around them for the first 25yrs of my life, sadly too complicated in a small apartment so maybe in the future. Looking forward to seeing more pictures!

Our three cats are stray cats that we have taken in over the years. In fact, two of them are mother and daughter, the third one is a male. They have become true members of our family.

We looked at the shelters for dogs but there was nothing we felt we could easily handle as the kids first dog (most were large and possibly too much for the kids 🤷🏻♂️).
That almost happened last year…
But realistically it was a bit too big for our current situation. Very nice one 👍🏻🐶

That’s why we decided to skip the entry level pipeline of turtles, rodents etc. and went for a dog. Then even if the kids don’t do much at least we have something from it 👍🏻

Yeah, we're a sucker for terriers.
We've had a couple of Schnauzers, a couple of Wire Foxes and a couple of Sealyhams through the years. As I mentioned we have a Sealyham and a Wire Fox right now. We generally have 2 dogs at a time.
That might be a sensible arrangement…
But let us start with one and see how the kids cope. If I tell my wife she needs to deal with two dogs and two kids with my current still rolonged absences… 😱😉
My wife sucked me into the idea of 2 dogs. "but they need to have a buddy". Hell, they ignore each other and growl at each other half the time.
This was our first Sealyham which the breeder wanted to show. Ended up as a grand champion like the movie Best of Show. lol ...
That will probably be the argument of our children, too 😂😂😂

Can't wait to see pictures of your actual pet . I've always wanted a Husky, but there ain't no way I am keeping one without having an appropriate piece of land, certainly not in a 30 square meter apartment - that would be a nightmare straight off the bat ...

We have had at least one dog in the family for the last twenty years, and earlier last year welcomed a new arrival. And at “home” always dogs, both growing up and now (4 currently, 1 house dog and 3 working dogs). It’ll be great!
