Have recently been given the opportunity to purchase the Vacheron Constantin traditionelle in rose gold. Was not expecting it, but tried it on and was amazed by the dial. Originally I intended to purchase the Patek 5212a, and now I am stuck in a bit of a ...  

That VC dial is not for me and the PP dial is entirely too busy for me. I’d consider a Lange 1815 38.5 mm instead. But you should get the one that evokes the most emotion in you . Good luck!

The 5212 never appealed to me and I'm not a fan of over-use of a brand's insignia/motiff (similar to the excessive use of the Maltese Cross in the Overseas line). The VC dial motiff will not age well, IMO

And, if you buy from of an official boutique, I think that getting an allocation for the Patek wouldn’t be easy.
