Dart markers were quite popular with V&C in mid-50s when these were manufactured. Your first example appears to be a sloppy redial; that index at 9 would really bug me, not to mention a missing SWISS :-( The second example is a bit of a mystery so thanks for sharing. I cannot find another example of outward-pointing dart indexes after looking over a few hundred catalog pictures from the era so I'm forced to conclude its likely not original. Shame because I find it rather pleasing and the usual caveat regarding V&C styling applies that anything is possible. The only certainty would be for a physical examination.

But if you compare some sample dials...
you will not find many (any) dials with dart indexes pointing out – they all pointing to the centre. What leads to the question, why they make such obvious failures when they rework dials?
To clarify authentic as meaning not refinished or....
is the question deeper as saying did these dials exisit. I really do not know these vintage watches so i can't say but i have seen invented, refinished dials with other brands of models that are not part of the brand repertoire. On the other hand a restor...

Agree tasteful restoration is always possible to maintain a certain level of enjoyment.
the trend seems today to leave objects as found. But sometimes the damage is to large that a refinish is needed. Tastefully done can prolong the enjoyment.
