Dear members, another tricky question. Which dial variant of this two ref 6181 is authentic? Both?...

you will not find many (any) dials with dart indexes pointing out – they all pointing to the centre. What leads to the question, why they make such obvious failures when they rework dials?

is the question deeper as saying did these dials exisit. I really do not know these vintage watches so i can't say but i have seen invented, refinished dials with other brands of models that are not part of the brand repertoire. On the other hand a restor... 

.. is the authenticity and originality of the dial design because the refinishing of the dial could be a necessary step within the service procedure. Do not misunderstand me, I definitely don't ask for refinished dials. But if you have a severe humidity/c... 

the trend seems today to leave objects as found. But sometimes the damage is to large that a refinish is needed. Tastefully done can prolong the enjoyment.

Dart markers were quite popular with V&C in mid-50s when these were manufactured. Your first example appears to be a sloppy redial; that index at 9 would really bug me, not to mention a missing SWISS :-( The second example is a bit of a mystery so tha... 

but you are probably wrong to judge the first a redial: In my opinion the first was cleansed unprofessionally - as everybody know the combination of cleanser and ultrasonics can remove the script easily - but there are no marks of a 'SWISS' print on the d...
