As for your question concerning the choice between Patek's 5088P and this VC, judging from photos, I would choose the VC because the movement is also engraved and manual wind (vs automatic) and because the jewels, and golden wheels or parts make it a little less uniform. But the 5088P has an enamel dial and enamel flanks, and, in real life, it might make a big difference, so my real choice could change "in the metal".
What about you? What would be your choice?

I still think your 82172 is just as fine or even better on a daily basis: a truly wonderful piece. Readability may be a little difficult on this engraved one, but when you have such a dial, I’m not sure if readability is a priority. Best, Emmanuel

Both this VC and the PP are wonderful and (at least for me) pure dream pieces, so I don't think we have to mind too much about which would be our choice: we can simply dream about both... ;-)
