There was one up for sale recently and before I got my 82172 I thought hard about it. For me, the hands looked hard to read. I never saw this in person, however. What great things VC can do in their ateliers

I still think your 82172 is just as fine or even better on a daily basis: a truly wonderful piece. Readability may be a little difficult on this engraved one, but when you have such a dial, I’m not sure if readability is a priority. Best, Emmanuel
