Thanks for this. Very informative and crystal clear. I have just looked at how many we'll known respected brands use gold PVD, it was very surprising. Anyway, I do think most of us here have never considered buying a gold PVD, or even a gold plated watch. The last gold plated watch I bought was on a plane duty free, 30 years ago! I am also reluctant to buy anymore black PVD watches as this wears off on the edges in the first few years, typically revealing a white metal below. Atleast gold PVD reveals the gold colored TiN. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the recent ceramic metal "alloys" like Hublot's and JLCs Cermet and especially Hublot's Magic Gold, which apparently has the same gold content as 18K.
