I've had mine for about a week and find that the results are inconsistent too.
Sometimes the device will not synchronize and I have to restart the app for it to work.
I usually take 2 or 3 readings to verify consistency. Sometimes the readings are accurate, other times not.

Try an ACE TIMER
Model 1000, this is the base model, no it is not a Witschi but for around $120 its good value and very usefull. I like it because its small and can be easily moved if needed. Various models may also be available on eBay David
