As for guitarists: Clapton's on everyone's top ten list. Saw him perform once, but even better, drove next to him for a mile or two east on Sunset Boulevard many years ago. He was driving a Porsche in the right lane while I was in the left with, of all things, one of his CD's on the passenger seat. Just as I was able to extract the disc from its case and shove it in the CD player, he made a right turn. One of the few great regrets of my life is missing the chance to startle Eric by playing one of his songs at full blast.

He is the best artist in my opinion. Clapton. Erik, slow hand. Above Bowie Above Mercury Above Steve Above Hendrix Above Bonamassa Above anything. The king of the super band Cream.

The greatest classical player of all time in my opinion. He is my main role model and source of inspiration for my playing. There are faster and louder players (both of which are technically demanding in classical) but he has the phrasing and articulation...
