After 6 months trying to find something reasonable, i gave up and paid the market and got this beauty. I already have 5711 and 5990 in steel and wanted a 3 steel nautilus. I have 3 boys and later i want to hand over each of them a piece. Not sure they are interested into my 5270P in salmon or my 3970J🙈.
But honestly a beautiful piece. Just i feel it is overpriced but it is what it is. So far i am enjoying it!

The 5712 is a great watch that sounds as though it will fit right in to your great collection.
I hope your sons will appreciate the watches in due course. I am trying to persuade my 15 year old daughter of the merits of my watches, with limited success, although she does like my 5236 (so there is some hope!).

I paid market for this watch last December.
I wasn’t even trying to get it at retail. It’s basically impossible unless you buy so many other watches you don’t want that it’s not worth it. This is my favorite iteration of the nautilus largely due to the asymmetric dial design and the 240 movement. 5740 is a close second but the market price there has reached insane numbers. You’ll love wearing this watch. Enjoy and wear in the best of health.

Congratulations on lining up an iconic trio of watches for your boys.
For me, I have no hard stance on paying over retail or going AD only. It all depends on how bad one’s desire is, and if one thinks the premium to fair.
I have bought a hell of a lot of sneakers and other stuff at a premium in the grey / resale markets in my time. Just not watches, yet.

Very best of luck to your sons being mature and responsible enough to handle such a generous legacy. Consider it a push if you're 1 out of 3 in terms of a successful pass down - that is the young man not losing it one way or another including liquidating it. If 2 of your 3 sons are long term successful in this manner you have hit the lottery! Some sons/daughters would be overjoyed with this super high value pass down, while others might see it as a heavy crown to wear - forcing unwanted pressure of hauling this super-liquid asset around with them.
Either way your children are uber blessed to have such a successful and generous Dad!
