Even though the Chronometro Gondolo now occupies a central place in my collection, I do not forget this timepiece, whose purity – white enamel dial, single dauphine-fusee minute hand, jumping hour – remains radiant.

It's a pleasure for me to see, every time I pull it out, that something resists any disinterest. What initially attracted me to this watch is still there and still produces the same strong appeal.

But the dial feels a bit busy and it wears a bit large on my wrist. Also I prefer hand wound movements.

I love mine, but not everybody can pull off the shape/size. The shaped movement and dial finishing are superb. Some do object to the date indication, but it’s well-placed and not o overly conspicuous.

My view of this watch is undermined by the fact that my wrist cannot really pull it off.

It’s interesting to learn a little about how this type of hand was created. Chopard recently changed the design of the dauphine-fusée and I like it less, personally.
